Dear MCPS Merchants,
As of January 2012, Merchants' Choice Payment Solutions and other businesses that process electronic payment accounts will be required to report merchant sales information to the IRS for the 2011 calendar year.
Beginning in 2012, merchants whose tax information on file with MCPS does not match IRS records will be subject to backup witholding in the amount of 28% of credit card sales.
It is critical that all merchants provide MCPS with the appropriate Tax ID number and business information on their Merchant Payment Card Applications.
